Wire EDM Working Environment

Wire cut electric discharge machine(EDM)  working environment :

  1. First of all, it is necessary to choose a dust-free location to prevent excessive debris accumulation near the EDM area.
  • The presence of airborne dust can significantly wear down the machine’s screws, thereby affecting its lifespan.
  • As a computer-controlled device, the medium speed wire cut EDM requires an air environment with minimal dust. Dust entering the computer’s disk can cause damage to both the disk and hard drive.
  • The medium speed wire cut EDM itself generates substantial heat, necessitating frequent ventilation in the electrical cabinet. Excessive airborne dust during this process can accumulate on electrical components, impeding proper heat dissipation and potentially leading to circuit board burnout. Therefore, regular cleaning of air filters is essential.

2. Select a location capable of supporting the weight of the machine.

3. Avoid places with vibrations or impacts as they can severely damage this high-precision processing equipment. Such conditions not only compromise processing accuracy but also shorten its operational life and may even render it unusable.

4. Meet the space requirements of the medium speed wire cutting EDM.

5. Choose locations with minimal temperature fluctuations to avoid direct sunlight through windows and top window glass, as well as areas close to heat sources.

  • High-precision parts processing requires a constant temperature environment, typically at room temperature (20°C).
  • The wire EDM itself generates significant heat during operation, so excessive temperature changes can negatively impact its lifespan.

6. Select a shielded enclosure for cutting EDM processes, as they involve arc discharges that emit strong electromagnetic waves which can be harmful to human health and the surrounding environment.

7. Choose a spacious workshop with good ventilation conditions so that the operator and the machine can work in the best environment.
