The development trend of CNC control systems as seen from CIMT2025

The numerical control (CNC) system, as the “brain” of CNC machine tools, directly influences the functionality, performance, and reliability of these machines. As an industry with high technological content and rapid development, NC systems have attracted increasing attention from the machine tool industry.

This article analyzes some CNC system exhibits at the CIMT2025 exhibition to elaborate on the development trends of NC systems.

Overview of Typical NC Systems at the Exhibition Overall, some exhibited NC systems showed distinct highlights, such as:

1.Heidenhain: OCM (cutting process library), graphical programming, MAC alignment

2.Siemens: Digital twin (virtual commissioning, simulation collision prevention, etc.), predictive maintenance (mechanical fingerprint comparison), intelligent operation and maintenance (BFA big data analysis)

3.Fanuc: Intelligent tool monitoring (overload protection + broken tool detection), adaptive efficiency enhancement (up to 60 sets of efficiency strategies per learning), digital twin

4.Mitsubishi: OMR-CC (optimal mechanical response trajectory control)

5.Huazhong CNC: The world’s first intelligent NC system embedded with AI chips and large AI models, achieving “1 intelligent base + 2 digital mainlines + 3 types of intelligent applications (process programming and optimization, precision improvement, health assurance)”

6.SYNTEC: Smooth acceleration/deceleration mode (Smooth ACC) stroke, intelligent tolerance (setting tolerance range)

7.Renauld: Rotary axis offset vector compensation

8.JD: Path deformation compensation (correcting trajectory with extended instructions based on measurement results), workpiece position compensation, adaptive friction compensation

9.GSK: Sinusoidal adaptive compensation, adaptive friction compensation (self-adaptive adjustment with acceleration changes)

Detail Introduction:

1. Fanuc FANUC Beijing debuted with a series of innovative products and solutions, showcasing cutting-edge technological explorations in the intelligent manufacturing industry. Facing global market challenges, fields such as new energy vehicles, AI, robotics, and aerospace have triggered significant transformation opportunities. To address changing market demands, FANUC Beijing and the group jointly launched the following innovative solutions: new CNC series 0i-F Plus STEP2 15-inch system, next-generation high-speed/high-precision/energy-saving servo system αi-D; new technologies such as digital twin, AI, IoT, automation, and energy saving; and special solutions for new energy vehicle processing.

2. Heidenhain Heidenhain exhibited various sizes and configuration options of the TNC7 NC system. New hardware includes three different display screens (24-inch, 19-inch, and 16-inch) and two types of keyboards. The new 16-inch display NC system TNC7 basic, a simplified version of the TNC7 series, will replace the TNC 620 system, providing powerful TNC7 functions for 3+2-axis machine tools.

3. Mitsubishi Mitsubishi Electric highlighted the new M80V TypeLA and spindle motor SJ-DG12/120-01T, demonstrating comprehensive strength and practical approaches for “intelligent manufacturing of the future” from technology to service. The company stated that it will focus on customer needs in the future, empowering new breakthroughs in China’s manufacturing development with high-quality technologies and products.
